The Shade Room

The family lived outside already — they just had nowhere cool enough to cook. We built a pale-stone kitchen wall, a kiaat table that stays out year-round, and a pergola that will close over with bougainvillea. Wild garlic and herbs sit in arm’s reach of the braai.
